The late Peter Drucker, widely regarded as the father of modern management, once wrote: "We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn."
It's a wonderful sentiment but it is incomplete. To paraphrase Alvin Toffler, the learning cycle more closely resembles this pattern: Learn, Unlearn, Relearn.
In order to achieve this state, it reasons that unlearning is just as pressing of a task to teach people as learning.
