Unlearning PowerPoint

As a professional futurist and speaker, I must admit that I was absolutely fascinated by this article: "Holographic meetings, gestures as mouse clicks and the Microsoft magic wand." This is because it highlights my own continuing need to unlearn.

Is there really a need for me to physically travel all over the world to deliver my message to businesses and trade associations? Of course not. Is there really a need for me to only present this information in the form of a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation? Of course not.

My need to unlearn does not stop there. In the article there is a passage suggesting that as technology continues to improve people will soon need to develop a new "library" of hand-movements that the computer recognizes.

Here is perhaps one way to think of this: What email was to my generation and text messaging was to my 19 year-old niece's generation; hand gesturing may be to my kid's generation.
