What if you could be enticed into saving more money just by being made to look older? What if you could be encouraged to exercise with greater regularity by appearing to be more overweight, and what if you could be made to become more environmentally-conscious by cutting down “virtual” trees.

The aforementioned ideas might sound implausible but new studies into the emerging field of augmented reality suggest that peoples’ behaviors can be influenced by the technology.

It is too soon to know whether the technology will work as promised but it’s not too soon for financial planners, healthcare professionals and environmentalists (along with countless other industry professionals) to begin exploring how augmented reality tools can be used to help their clients and customers achieved their stated goals.
