“[We’re] operating with a scale of data that is way beyond what was possible even three years ago,” say Sam Madden, an MIT professor in this article discussing how continued advances in GPS and mobile technology are now able to deliver customized driving directions. The technology is so sophisticated that it will deliver different routes to the same destination based an individual’s driving style. (In other words, your mother-in-law may be told to stay to the side streets, while you’ll be encouraged to take your more aggressive style to the freeways.)
It is yet another sign that your future–be it in the form of soft drinks, coffee, or education–will be customized.
