Think Healthy: Wired recently published an article titled “Tim Cook Wants Apple to Literally Save Your Life”. If you’ve been paying attention to what Apple has been up to this shouldn’t be a surprise. From the Apple Watch monitoring your heart rate and notifying people of irregularities to Airpods being used as hearing aides, Apple has been steadily moving into the healthcare space. Soon the company’s A.I. may have enough information to diagnose people before they even feel sick. Apple’s goal, of course, is to make money by keeping people healthy in the first place. This is a paradigm-shift for the healthcare sector.

Think Again: Space X’s Falcon 9 has had a great many achievements this week, including a flight rate 30x higher than NASA’s shuttle at 1/100th of the cost. Falcon 9 also returned to earth for its 24th landing, setting a new rocket-reuse record. SpaceX has quite literally changed the game for broadband Internet service. This article on how Starlink across Africa can help save lives is just one example of how it’s satellites helping speed up the adoption of tele-health services and revolutionizing the health sector.

Think Optimistically: Imagine a world with no plastic waste. Fortunately, this possibility is becoming more plausible by the day. One group of researchers have now developed a microplastic-free degradable plastic that is durable, recyclable, and non-toxic, while and another group of scientists have created an eco-friendly plastic that bacteria can eat

Think Fast: A.I’s predictive capabilities are increasing and are now, in some cases, even surpassing human intuition. A new study using a tool called BrianBench showed that large language models (LLMs) can predict the outcomes of neuroscience studies more accurately than human experts. As A.I.’s predictive abilities get more accurate and lead to faster more informed decision making, the time for you to think about how this will impact you and your business is now!

Think in Questions: One responsibility of futurists is to think about unintended consequences. As climate change grows more severe, I am of the opinion the world must take more seriously the possibility of “geoengineering.” As this article excellently points out, however, just because we can alter the climate, the operative question is: Should we?

Think Visually

Afterthought: “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”–The Gospel According to St. Thomas
