Wouldn’t it be cool if you had your very own chauffeur?

Sounds unlikely, right?

Well, don’t be so sure. As I’ve written before (here and here), the future may be more affordable than you suspect.

Scientists at Oxford University have recently developed a system which can be fitted onto your existing automobile and will convert it into a self-driving car.

At present, the system costs $7500 but as with the rapidly plummeting price of sequencing your genome, the cost may be cut in half every two years.

If this occurs, your $100 chauffeur may be awaiting you as early as 2025.

Here’s the math:

2013: $7500
2015: $3750
2017: $1875
2019: $937
2021: $468
2023: $234
2025: $117
