As a result, I left for Rutland, Vermont yesterday. Unfortunately, due to the recent heavy rains from Hurricane Irene, significant portions of Highway 4 were washed out. I didn’t, however, realize my path was blocked until I was 20 miles from my final destination. To reach Rutland required that I retrace my path 30 miles in the opposite direction and then take an entirely new route to Rutland. The revised trip required an extra 2.5 hours of travel.
As I backtracked, I couldn’t help but recall this poignant quote on unlearning: “Every mile you go in the wrong direction is really a two mile error. Unlearning is twice as hard as learning.”
