One summer day, the traveler and the student were walking in the land of the north when they came upon a lake.
In the middle of the lake was a small island.
“What’s that?” asked the child.
“The Isle of Wisdom,” replied the traveler.
“How do you get to it?”
“All I can tell you is that you can’t swim.”
“But …”
The travler cut off the student and said, “In time.”
Only many years later, long after the traveler and the child had gone their separate ways, did the student return to the lake. It was a different season. It was the dead of winter. The student looked at the Island and smiled.
He then walked across the frozen lake to the Isle and, upon arriving, reflected on the traveler’s words.
