Yesterday, I inelegantly titled my post, "
To Unlearn: Put on a New Hat." To rectify the matter, I thought I'd share a wonderful poem by Wallace Stevens entitled "Six Significant Landscapes," which more eloquently illuminates the unlearning strategy of trying on a new hat:
Rationalists, wearing square hats,
Think, in square rooms,
Looking at the floor,
Looking at the ceiling.
They confine themselves
To right-angled triangles.
If they tried rhomboids,
Cones, waving lines, ellipses–
As, for example, the ellipse of the half-moon–
Rationalists would wear sombreros.
