Yesterday, the New York Time’s had an interesting article on traveling Venice’s grand canal’s in a kayak. What I liked about the piece is that the author didn’t let conventional wisdom dictate how he would tour the city. Most people either use a vaporetto (a water bus) or pay about $200 for a one hour gondola ride to see the historic city. Yet for the same price, the author simply packed a 32-pound inflatable kayak in his suitcase and instead created an unforgetable experience for himself.
