An Ode to Emily Dickinson

Posted in Poems

Emily Dickinson was born December 10, 1830 and died May 15, 1886. She was 55 years, 5 months, and 5 days old at the time of her death.

I was born July 17, 1964. This means that today, December 22, 2019, I am 55 years, 5 months and 5 days young.

As an ode to Ms. Dickinson, I’d like to share a poem I have written. It’s called “Nature’s Beckoning.”

Mycelium Murmuring
Roots Writhing
Prairies Protesting
Forests Flaming
Winds Wailing
Skies Scolding
Streams Sobbing
Rivers Raging
Oceans Orating
Mountains Moralizing
Everything Echoing
Calling, Crying.
Who? What?
Human Hearts.
Pleading, Praying:
Awake, Arise!
