Dear Readers,
Last week, I promised I’d share a link to my talk “The Future of Faith in an Era of Accelerating Change.” The gist of the 40-minute presentation is simple: A perfect storm of technological, political, economic, and environmental change is coming. Trust is breaking down, long established political and financial institutions are on shaky ground, and the planet and its many species continue to be placed under great stress. In order to survive, people will seek communities of like-minded people whom they know they can trust.
Many of these communities will be centered around long established communities of faith, but I also believe society will experience a wave of spiritual revivalism and we will soon see a multitude of new communities sprout up around potentially unorthodox ideas.
Longer term, the communities that will survive, I believe, will be those that do two things: First, they will begin to say “no” to certain new emerging technologies such as AI, gene editing, robotics and self-driving cars; and, second, they will diligently re-establish a healthy and regenerative approach to working in partnership with Mother Nature.
If you have differing opinions, I’d love to hear from you.
