If you want to think about the future, it helps to listen to the fringe. It also helps to give yourself permission to think bizarre thoughts.

I mean, really, who a few decades ago would have imagined that people would pay good money to take their pets to a pet psychologist or a pet hotel; or that bottled water would be a $17 billion-a-year annual industry; or that teenagers and middle-aged mothers would crave jeans with holes in them?
