It is a curious phrase: It goes without saying.
If it really "goes without saying," should you need to say "it goes without saying"?
On a deeper level, though, I do believe it is worth exploring those things which truly "go without saying" in our relationships, in our workplace, and in our life. For example:
It may go without saying that we love our spouse or our children … but they may still like to hear it.
It may go without saying that everyone in the office knows what the main goal is … except for a key employee.
And it may go without saying that we really know ourself … but then, again, we may not.
I'm just sayin'…
