If we are to move spiritward and evolve as spiritual beings, it is imperative we understand the imagination as a spiritual tool.
Consider this statement: We already live in the imaginations of other people.
To understand the truth of this statement look at the following two photos:

The picture on the left is an Italian village built during the Renaissance. The photo on the right is a suburban community built 500 years later.
Now let me ask you a simple question: In whose imagination would you prefer to live?
Would you prefer to live in the dreams of people who imagined communities could live in harmony with nature, or do you prefer to live in the imaginations of those who envisioned communities filled with fast food restaurants, strip malls, gas stations, and an automobile–dependent society?
And, if you do prefer automobiles, consider these two photos:

Do you prefer Elon Musk’s imagination of masculine and sharp-edged cyber trucks or the imagination of the designers who brought us the sleek, elegant 1957 Corvette?
Again, I ask you in whose imagination would you prefer to live?
This question is paramount because our future will be determined, in part, by this question.
We are not passive actors in the drama of the future. We have agency, but first we must awaken to the reality that the human imagination is a powerful spiritual tool.
Next, we must begin exercising our imaginations and actively choosing to fill it with healthier, more beautiful, and more regenerative images of the future.
Then we must act on behalf of our imaginations.
We can live in a world of harmony and beauty, but our first duty rests in imagining what we want this future to look like, do, and be.
